This is what I have been looking at for the last 4 1/2
weeks. The little green dot is the laser, which the radiation gurus use to line me up every time.
I am lying on the table at this point, with my left arm up kind of over my head, cradled in these U shaped rests. I cannot move. I cannot scratch an itch or adjust my glasses. The whole process only takes about 10 minutes or so. It doesn't hurt either. Believe you me, radiation is silently doing it's work. I will spare you the picture of my chest at the moment. Suffice to say, this is not the way to get a sunburn.
One of the things I always cringe about, is this statement: "God doesn't understand how I feel." It is because of the cross and Jesus death upon that cross, that He DOES understand how we feel. Listen to this: "For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who has been tempted in ALL things, as we are, yet without sin." Heb 4:15
His perfect, sinless body was spit upon, flogged, made a mockery of, and then crucified.
Have you been made fun of? Accused falsely? Misunderstood? Have you ever suffered such pain you thought you could not bear another second? Have you ever had to face something you would rather walk away from? Have you ever been betrayed by a friend? A close friend? Have you ever counted on someone in your time of need, only to have them bail? Have you ever experienced a loss so deep you though you'd never recover?
I have. I'm guessing you have as well.

I will miss the daily reminder of the cross when this is over.

What a perfect post for Maundy Thursday. Thank you for sharing, and reminding us (me) of His sacrifice for us.

So, Bonnie, I think I finally figured out what I was doing wrong and am trying yet again!
Is Monday your last radiation session? WHEW! I was trying to tell you before that retired school counselors got together and one fellow, who is beating a brain tumor, told me that reactions to radiation vary widely. So...I think we were all hoping that you wouldn't have a reaction! Ah, well--almost done!
If you go to Melissa's blog (rawtrigirl.blogspot.com), you'll hear her report about her 1/2 marathon that she ran 2 wks. ago--she placed 26 in her age group with a time of 1.49.51. Her personal goal was to be under 2.00. She does the Danskin sprint triathalon every Sept.--she said when they had cancer survivors start, she thought, "Oh! That's me!" She had a very small growth insides her bladder that, fortunately, was caught very early (because of an ultrasound to see if her IUD was appropriately placed)--so it was just plain good luck. She didn't need chemo/radiation, but she was checked every 3 months, then every 6 months, and now once a year. I don't know if you knew that---anyway, it would be so cool if one of these years you could do the Danskin with her. I know it's far away and I'm just dreaming--there's probably one in your area, too.
Give yourself plenty of time to recover, let people wait on you and spoil you!! You'll feel like yourself again much faster!
