Testing her wings

Teresa gasped. "Is she going by herself?"
"No honey, Hannah will never go anywhere alone--Jesus is always with her."
I spoke those words before I watched her drive down the driveway, BY HERSELF.
I am still crying.
If you're not a mother, I guess you may want to go watch TV or something.
I have raised my baby to be dependent on God but to be independent of this world. My greatest desire is for Hannah to love God with all her heart, soul, mind and strength.
Today she took a big test flight out of her cozy, ribbon strewn nest. She is growing up, maturing and she is loving God with all her heart and soul and mind.

I remember the day she was born..she had 24 hours to come the natural way, but she relented. They had to go get her..After the c-section, they laid her on my arm for just a few brief seconds..then her Daddy got her.(so not fair!)
When I saw her face in her car window, I also saw a baby nursing at my breasts, a toddler with curls upon curls, a girl skipping everywhere she went, a little girl who loved to sing at the top of her lungs at church, her first piano recital and the time she was baptized in Lake Michigan....
I had that mommy fast forward through your child's life thing going on......

Jesus, I give her to You.. I have had people tell me that You love her far more than I.
Honestly, I cannot comprehend this. How can Your love be greater than mine--her mom??
This is also one of those, I cannot go on my feelings moments. I need to exercise my faith muscles.
I pray Jesus, as Hannah leaves this nest more and more over the next few years, that she will not forget all You've done and Who You are. O God, do not let her forget Your benefits...
You say in Your Word that "You give your angels charge over her, to guard her in all her ways."
I am hoping I am not committing some gross interpretation error to believe that this can apply to her driving and to others around her driving too. You know my heart Jesus.. I pray she will pray to You, depend on You and grow ever closer to You, while she drives.
With open hands I give you one of my greatest, most precious treasures..she is Yours as we promised from the day she was dedicated to You.

She just called and got there safely...
I have a feeling that this is just the beginning isn't it??
I'm thankful we have such a big window..and a field, where I can see her lights go up the road...

He is faithful,

Oh sweet friend, this makes me cry . . . My birds are spreading their wings too, and I feel your ache. As proud as we are of how far they have come (and how well they can fly) it just hurts, doesn't it? Not to mention the scary driving alone part of it all!

Thank you, thank you for the reminder that they are His. I especially needed this now, as I have my oldest bird doing survival training in Alaska (50 degrees below and he's staying OUT in it) . . . and my Taylor bird away at Abilene Christian University, for a week long class on Children's Ministry.

Oh Father, thank you for our birds, and for the wondrous opportunity You have given us to teach them to fly. Thank you that You have them tucked under Your mighty wing, even when they are out from under ours!

Love you friend, thank you for blessing me!

"He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge, his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart" Psalm 91:4.

Oh, my! Two down and two to go!!
You'd think it would get easier the more you do it, but it doesn't.
Your Mom's heart is always loving them, praying for them and then letting them go.
Thank you Bonnie and Tina for your wonderful words and prayers for ALL our children, no matter how old they are!

Love you lots, Mom ;-)
