Earth Day

One of my fondest memories as a child, is riding with my Dad, in his orange F-150 and picking up trash by the side of the road. We would just travel slowly, up the road, covering both sides and then turn west and travel down our northern property line as well. We would usually get a whole back end full to overflowing of junk--paper, cans, tvs, radios, and tires by the scads. Then we would travel about 6 miles to the dump--yes it was a D-U-M-P, not a transfer station, not a recycling center but a DUMP!!!! My brother and I would pour over the piles and look for treasure. We had a great time together.
My Dad taught me about conservation, about taking care of the earth and about taking care of your own junk! All before Earth Day was ever conjured up! Imagine! He was a smart guy my Dad!
One of the things that sickens me is the trash people pitch out on the side of the road.
Just two days ago, on my walk, someone had thrown out 3 plastic, 50 pound bags of potting soil, each filled with garbage and an old office chair! I guess I could give them the benefit of the doubt that it fell out of their truck, but I don't think so. It is still there as of yesterday...

I used to dream as a child, that I would "catch" someone throwing out trash and make them pick up all of Lumberjack road until it was beautiful..

Anyhow, my bone scan is today at noon. I am home, with no children. Teresa and Rachel went to the home where Hannah babysits each week, to clean! WOO HOO!! I have the whole day to myself!

Please pray I would know the presence of God as I lay there today and let the machine pass over me. It only takes about 45 minutes. No pain. Pray I would not entertain fear, anxiety or any other scenario while I wait for the results.

Thank you so much!

Now I am going for a walk and taking a couple bags to fill with trash....

He is faithful,

Thanks for the story about your dad. We too were taught from a very early age to put trash where it belonged--and that wasn't in someone else's ditch. I think me and my wees will go look for some trash to pick up today!

Praying for you.

I too have fond memories of picking up roadside trash. Also memory of our neighbors to the south between us & M46 doing the same thing. One of our neighbors saw someone throwing something out of their car & he chased them down! Human behavior hasn't changed much; there are those of who value keeping things picked up & those who just don't care.
I heard the motor running on your Dad's old pickup today:) God sees it all & I'm comforted by that.
I love you and am praying for my two kids.
